By way of a contrast from yesterday's sunset something a bit macabre.
Gannets are beautiful birds, but they have something of Jurassic Park about them.
Both these things seemed to be captured in this long dead specimen washed up on the sand at Silloth - there is still a hint of yellow/gold in the head feathers , but the bill leaves you in no doubt that this was a wild - even primitive - creature.
