365/141: 10 July 2010: Reflections on Rainfall

Had our first real rain for some considerable time this weekend – and aren’t peoples reactions so predictable. Yesterday it was – ‘ooh. the gardens are so dry ‘ and today it’s all gloom because we can’t go out. But the weathermen do it for me – sounding apologetic when they tell us that the good weather is coming to an end. Come on guys – it’s about balance – it’s not good weather if everything shrivels and dies. And if it didn’t rain I’d live in the Valley District or perhaps even the Arid Sand District – neither of which sound anywhere near as interesting. To celebrate the return of moisture here’s a pic taken on next doors nature pond:

365/109: 08 June 2010: Puddles and reflections

I love the countryside after a decent rainstorm. Everything smells fresh and clean, drops of water sit on the grass like jewels and everything somehow looks greener. You also get lots of puddles, and the reflections in this one caught my eye.

365/92: 22 May 2010: It’s Barbecue Weather

What a delightful day for a barbecue and lashings of chilled white wine in the garden. Had a bottle of Alma Andina Torrontes – my first, and hopefully it wont be my last – absolutely gorgeous. In fact I got a sample case of a mix of Alma Andina wines from the wine club and they’ve all been good so far.
Anyway, enough of wine, and onwards to today's picture. Couldn’t resist this rather odd reflection in the dessert spoon while I was sitting at the barbie table.
