Not going to name this hotel as it’s not as bleak as this shot makes it look, but I couldn’t resist this shot. Quite challenging to take because I didn’t have a tripod and light levels in hotels are not generally very high. Note to hotel designers – have a good look at this and imagine spending a lot of time here – then try again.

365/351: 05 February 2011: Kestrel in Euston Station
WAs eating lunch on the balcony of the pub inside Euston station when I noticed a kestrel sitting on an aerial of some description. At first I though it was a plastic model put up to bother the pigeons, but the thought obviously offended it and it flew around for a bit to make a point.
Wasn’t equipped to photography small birds at long distances, but took this shot anyhow. Said bird is just visible silhouetted against the sky to the left of the dark pillars on the right of the shot.

365/148: 17 July 2010: Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
Quite possibly one of the dullest airports in the world. The architecture is stunning, but the food facilities are less than great and the shopping is fine if you have a spare £10,000. The expression on Naomi’s face captures it well I think.
On the other hand – flying with Air France to Cairo via CDG was 35% of the price of flying with anyone else, and the plane was pretty good with decent leg room and good service so it’s not all bad.

365/140: 09 July 2010: Captain
A couple of years back one of the students that worked with me on a work placement bought me this as a leaving gift IIRC. been meaning to photograph it for a while…so now I have. Haven’t yet worked out where to mount it, but its time will come.

365 Challenge Day 40 – 31 Mar 2010 – Our new living room
Can’t quite believe how much more useable the room is now we have the stove installed – and provided we manage to keep it going the house is lovely and toasty to come into on a cold day. In case anyone is wondering about the odd perspective – it’s because I used an ultra-wide lens to get everything in.
On an entirely unrelated note – I’ve just started a photography degree with the Open College of the Arts – which means I’ve started another blog here. Do feel free to pop over and have a look.
