1000/394: 20 March 2011: Orange and lemon

Nice colourful subject for today's photo. Don't often have lemons in the house so tought I'd take advantage. Used them in a Venezuelan pork dish which involved simmering the pork in a white-wine based sauce with coriander and parsley, and adding a whole chopped (unwaxed) lemon, skin and all for the last few minutes. Absolutely delicious.

Accompanied it with an orange, avocado and red onion salad with letuce and baby spinach - even more delicious.

365/116: 15 June 2010: A Rubber Cow

Funny how the photographic muse (moos) takes you. Travelled back from Trawsfynydd today over the road to Bala. Absolutely gorgeous afternoon, stunning scenery and absolutely no urge to photograph it. Why?
Anyhow, just to add to the mystery, I got home and sat at the computer to read my e-mails, notice this rubber cow staring at me from the shelf and get an irresistible urge to photograph it. So here it is as a counterfoil to the designer reindeer from earlier this week.

PS Don’t ask why I have a rubber cow on my bookshelf – it’s just there.

365/114: 13 June 2010: Reindeer

Thought I’d photograph something that seemed appropriate for the weather. Can’t believe I was driven to light the stove earlier today. So much for ‘flaming June’.
I bought this little guy in Stockholm on a business trip to Forsmark, Sweden probably around 1990. It’s a design by Lisa Larson from the Skansen collection for the Gustavsberg Studio (yay Google). I though it was delightful at the time, and the years have not changed my mind.

365/75: 05 May 2010: Home again

Took some rather nice shots of Hunterston A today but don’t really feel I can post them on a private blog given that they were taken in work time, for work reasons. So…waited ‘til I got home and did this one instead.

A wooden apple, made of apple wood. This wood came from a rather large apple tree which we used to have in our garden until the winter storms took it  a few years back. it fell on my car at the time, but fortunately did almost no damage. Our neighbour took a couple of decent logs from it and turned two of these and a small vase for us. The rest of the tree went off for firewood with the help of one of the farmers from the village.

365 Challenge 45/46: 5-6 April 2010

5 April 2010 – Day 45
Travelled back from the west country on Bank Holiday Monday, which seemed barmy at first sight , but actually turned out to be quite an easy trip with only light traffic. Even so, 5.5 hours in a car is going some, so as a tribute to good ol’ Betsy I thought I’d post a picture of her keys.  Would have to confess to this being less than my best picture – but after all that time in the car I was a little short of inspiration.

Got a lot of ribbing for choosing an Alfa -  but it’s been totally reliable for the first 35,000 miles – and great fun to drive.
Day 46 - 6 April 2010
As I think I mentioned previously I’ve just signed up for a photography degree with the Open College of the Arts. The material for the first course arrived today, wrapped in corporately coloured tissue no less. To mark the occasion thought I’d set up a still life out of the box.
